Dr. Jarrad Stevens

Dr Jarrad Stevens is a Melbourne orthopaedic surgeon and Director of Victorian Bone & Joint Specialists. He is also Acting Head of the Orthopaedic Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. His subspecialty practice focuses on hip and knee surgery, including primary and revision joint replacement, robotic-assisted joint replacement, sports knee surgery, ACL reconstruction, patellofemoral conditions and complex orthopaedic trauma.

Jarrad completed advanced fellowship training in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in Scotland. He subsequently undertook further fellowship training at Southmead Major Trauma Centre and the Avon Orthopaedic Centre in the United Kingdom, with additional subspecialty training in complex trauma, soft-tissue knee surgery, ACL reconstruction, patellofemoral stabilisation and sports knee injuries.

During his time in the United Kingdom, Jarrad completed a Master of Surgery at the University of Edinburgh and was awarded the Sir Harold Stiles Medal for his research into revision knee replacement. He maintains a strong interest in research, education and the development of contemporary hip and knee replacement techniques, including robotic-assisted surgery and the management of complex and revision joint replacement.

Alongside his civilian surgical career, Jarrad is a serving member of the Australian Defence Force and has deployed on active service to Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and other areas of the Middle East. His military service has complemented his extensive experience in orthopaedic trauma and the management of complex musculoskeletal injuries.

Jarrad currently treats patients across both the public and private hospital systems in Melbourne. His clinical practice includes hip and knee arthritis, primary and revision hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, ACL and meniscal injuries, patellofemoral disorders, sports knee injuries, fractures and complex orthopaedic trauma.

As Director of Victorian Bone & Joint Specialists, Jarrad works alongside a multidisciplinary group of subspecialist orthopaedic surgeons providing specialist orthopaedic care across Melbourne.

Jarrad’s clinical practice focuses on the management of hip and knee conditions, from sports injuries and joint preservation through to primary and complex revision joint replacement. He also has extensive experience in orthopaedic trauma and the management of complex musculoskeletal injuries.
